The National Fire Protection Standard 80 - Chapter 19.4 & 19.5 & 105 Chapter 7 - 2016 edition
States
that: Each
damper shall be inspected 1 year after installation
and then the frequency shall be every six (6) years for hospitals.
One exception
to the 6 year rule is MOB's. They are required to be inspected every
4 years.
The following maintenance shall be performed on fire
dampers:
- Fusible links (where
applicable) shall be removed for testing.
- All dampers shall be operated to
verify that they close fully.
- All inspections shall document the
location, date of inspection,
inspector and deficiencies
- If the damper is not operable, repairs
shall begin without delay.
The
objective of damper inspections is to assure compliance with
this standard.
