Professional Fire & Smoke Damper Inspections and Repairs

We Will.

  • Locate all Dampers
  • Inspect, clean and do minor repairs on each Fire and Smoke Damper.
  • Replace fusible links (as needed)
  • Tag each damper with a barcode, ID number and date
  • Provide complete hardcopy and electronic documentation for your facility

~ NFPA~

The National Fire Protection Standard 80 - Chapter 19.4 & 19.5 & 105 Chapter 7 - 2016 edition

States that: Each damper shall be inspected 1 year after installation
and then the frequency shall be every six (6) years for hospitals.

One exception to the 6 year rule is MOB's. They are required to be inspected every 4 years.

The following maintenance shall be performed on fire dampers:

  1. Fusible links (where applicable) shall be removed for testing.
  2. All dampers shall be operated to verify that they close fully.
  3. All inspections shall document the location, date of inspection,
    inspector and deficiencies
  4. If the damper is not operable, repairs shall begin without delay.

The objective of damper inspections is to assure compliance with this standard.
